Start Your New Home Business In 2008
By Suzanne M
The New Year brings with it resolutions for all of us and is perhaps the most popular time of the year to start a new business. With people all charged up and ready to make changes to their lives, it is not difficult to see why it is that way. If you are looking to break away from the shackles of your day job or at least make a supplemental income in your spare time, then read on.

Ebay

In less than a decade, Ebay has grown into the world's largest online marketplace and continues to grow year after year. One of the reasons for their success is the fact that they make it so easy for everyone to use their services. You don't even need a website or have a customer base to start selling on Ebay. Just register on their website and create an account. Next, you might want to buy a couple of items from Ebay (if you have not already done that in the past) to get an idea of how it works. Next, sign up for their Free Training, to learn the basics of selling on Ebay. This training is quick and easy. The best way to start is perhaps to sell the things are your place that you don't want anymore. Books, toys and hey - don't forget Christmas presents from that annoying Aunt or duplicate ones that

we all run into at some time or the other. Once you get things rolling, visit a Garage sale or a charity event and source your products there. Soon, you will find yourself realizing the high-margin items that sell well and focusing your attention there and so on. There you go, a business in the making with almost no initial investment, except for your time of course.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great low-risk idea. In essence, you sell other people's products online without having to stock anything yourself or any money in creating those products. You simply sell them and make a commission from every sale. Perhaps the best place to start is Amazon. They have one of the most successful Affiliate programs and provide all the resources you need to set up your Amazon store or Affiliate links. Commissions are usually lower (5-10 or more sometimes) with digital resources such as E-books and software.

Blogging

Do you have a blog yet? If yes, did you know you could make some easy money with your blog? Well, whether you have a blog or not, it is very easy to get started. Just visit blogger.com and you should be able to start a blog in less than 10 minutes for FREE. I recommend starting a blog in a topic that interests you a lot because that makes it all the more fun. You could blog about anything really - your hometown, your bus ride to work, your hobbies, your current situation in life. To monetize a blog, though, I would recommend that you stay within a certain niche. If you manage to post interesting thoughts regularly and manage to drive traffic to your blog, you can make money with Affiliate programs or Google Advertisements on your blog. These are both very easy to set up.

Get Paid To...

Finally, there is also the 'Get Paid To' programs such as 'Get Paid to fill out an Online Survey' and 'Get Paid to Participate in Focus Groups', Etc. These are great if you are not even looking to create a website or blog or not interested in selling stuff either. All you need is a PC with Internet access and you are on your way to making some extra cash in your spare time with these offers. A word of caution - some companies will make you pay for taking part in these surveys and focus groups. I would recommend you to stay away from those. You should not have to pay anything to participate. There are plenty of legitimate free ones out there that you should target.
